A great DMZ program should be included important two historical relics, the Hien Luong River (former demilitarized zone) and Vinh Moc Tunnels and the beach.

 

Tam's Cafe offers tour with war veteran as a tour guide but your reservation should be done ahead of time.

Itinerary: Tam’s Café – Doc Mieu Firebase - Hien Luong Bridge/River – Vinh Moc Tunnels - Cua Tung Beach

 

Description:

After breakfast or coffee at Tam’s Café, the motorbike will take you on Highway 1 to Doc Mieu Firebase which is an outlook to the Ben Hai River. Then you keep on to the Hien Luong Riverbank, where the former DMZ was officially set. You can spend 30 – 40 minutes at the place before heading to Vinh Moc Tunnels. Here, you would like to spend at least an hour at the museum and underground tunnels. Then, the driver will take you to the beach to enjoy the nice sand and original landscape. The seafood there are wonderful and the price is reasonable. After that, you will have a wonderful seaside trip back to Dong Ha on the Coastal Road.

Itinerary: Tam’s Café – Mine Action Visitor Center – National Cemetery - Doc Mieu firebase - Hien Luong Bridge/River – Vinh Moc Tunnels - Cua Tung Beach

Your driver then will take you on Highway 1  to Doc Mieu Firebase which is an outlook to the Ben Hai River. Then you keep on to the Hien Luong Riverbank, where the former DMZ was officially set. After breakfast or coffee at Tam’s Café, the motorbike will take you to the Mine Action Visitor Center where you will have an overall picture of the war aftermath. Then, another visit to the Quang Tri Museum will provide you with all aspects about the culture and people and its history. Later on, a visit to an old Airfield will provide you with stories about Dong Ha as a military base in  I Corps Tactical Zone. After that, you will get on Ho Chi Minh trail to visit the biggest cemetery for Vietnamese soldiers in Vietnam. Your driver then will turn to Highway 1 for a visit to Doc Mieu Firebase and then Hien Luong Riverbank, where the former DMZ was officially set. You can spend 30 – 40 minutes at the place before heading to the beach for lunch. Here, you can enjoy the nice sand and original landscape. The seafood are wonderful and the price is reasonable. You can take time to have a swim there. Vinh Moc Underground Village is your last stop. Here, you would like to spend at least an hour at the museum and underground tunnels. After that, you will have a wonderful seaside trip back to Dong Ha on the Coastal Road.

Itinerary: Tam’s Café – Mine Action Visitor Center – Rockpile - Camp Caroll - Dakrong Bridget - Khe Sanh Combat base – Lang Vay Special Camp

 

Description:

After breakfast or coffee at Tam’s Café, the motorbike will take you to the Mine Action Visitor Center where you will have an overall picture of the war aftermath. After that, you will get on Route 9 to visit the Khe Sanh Combat Base. On the way it is optional that you can stop by Camp Carroll, Rockpile and Dakrong Bridge (start of Ho Chi Minh Trail). Then, you will head for Lang Vay Special Camp, which is an area close to the border of Vietnam and Laos. The ride on Route 9 is a highlight since you will have great opportunity to see the tribal village and wonderful roadside landscapes.
